The Park Tool Chain Checker has a window gauge to help you achieve an accurate measurement. If you do not check your chain regularly, you will have problems shifting gears and the worn chain will eventually wear out your cassette, derailleur and and rear cogs. This neat tool is compact and lightweight and will help you keep a close eye on your chain wear. If you swap your chain out as soon as it is 75% worn, you will save yourself money in the long run. That's why bike component manufacturers recommend chain replacement at regular wear intervals.
Simply insert the Chain Checker’s pins into two links, lightly press the swing arm gauge, and then check the gauge window for an accurate reading. The CC-2 is compatible with most single-speed and derailleur chains*, including Shimano® XTR® 12-speed chains.
*Use the CC-4 for SRAM® Flattop™ and SRAM® T-Type 12-speed chains.
